Cardano Epoch Calendar
What are Epochs in Cardano?
The short answer is that an epoch is a rewards cycle of 5 days. Cardano ADA is a stakeable coin, meaning the owner of the coins can “stake” the value of the coins to a stake pool. The pool gets increased chances to win the opportunity to mint a block in a lottery and the wallet providing the staking get rewards in the form of more coins, or interest. The coins never leave the staked wallet and the owner retains 100% ownership, with no limitations. This process is completed every 5 days. Each Cardano-staked wallet receives rewards at a rate estimated somewhere between 4.5% and 6% per year. The epoch Calendar allows you to see exactly when the rewards are paid out. Any earnings are transferred automatically to everyone’s private wallets as part of the Cardano protocol itself, not the stake pool. There is nothing to do as the rewards are also automatically compounded.
